Within the Astro-Cosmo team of the Annecy-le-Vieux Laboratory of Theoretical Physics, MUST mesocenter is used to store either large astrophysical data or images of simulations of galaxy formation. These data are then processed for full scientific exploitation by the members of the team.
Among the completed projects concerning these astrophysical data, we mention here the detection of the extended emission of gamma radiation from the Andromeda galaxy, which was the subject of part of C.Armand’s doctoral thesis. This work is based on the gamma data collected by the Fermi-LAT telescope and stored on the disks of the MUST mesocenter.
Another ongoing project uses images of galaxies simulated by the ILLUSTRIS collaboration and aims at developing Machine Learning algorithms for determining the distribution of dark matter in these galaxies.
